The City of Manhattan Beach is now working to construct and install an updated plaque that will provide a factually accurate account of the history of Bruce's Beach, which will be placed at the top of the park, according to CBS Los Angeles. A plaque reading "Bruce's Beach" was then installed on the property. The property's original name, Bruce's Beach, was officially restored by the Manhattan Beach City Council in 2006, with Mayor Mitch Ward, the city's first and only Black mayor, leading the renaming campaign. "The seizure of Bruce's Beach nearly a century ago was an injustice inflicted upon not just Willa and Charles Bruce but generations of their descendants who almost certainly would have been millionaires," wrote Hahn in this week's statement. The pool was not heated and so it was a bit chilly for us, but we went in anyway. That was a bit disappointing as we like to work out daily. We ended up doing video workouts in our room. The machines were old and rusty, and the pulley machine didn't work. The only room for improvement I could see was the gym - it was a bit tired and not very usable. Breakfast was amazing - it was included in our stay and we really enjoyed it. We also wanted into Nerja one night which was a nice walk. Parking was free and there was plenty of it.
I loved how the beach chairs were actually on the grass in front of the beach and not allowed on the beach, so you wouldn't get sandy. It was never crowded and we were always able to find chairs where we wanted (sun or shade). We enjoyed the pool and beach area very much. We were able to see the pool and sea from our room, and a beautiful palm tree right in front of our room. We requested a room with a sea view and were very happy to receive that. We were there for 9 days, and it was beautiful and enjoyable. We had a fantastic stay at Marinas de Nerja.
